Here are some of my favorite snacks that are easy to make and travel well. Summer is full of day trips, lazy days at the pool, and vacations. Having a healthier gluten-free snack on hand has always made days away from home much easier.
Air travel always requires snacks. Have you ever been stuck in a tiny terminal with nothing but hot dogs, chips, sodas, and a hot pretzel stand? Or what about sitting on the runway for 2 hours before you take off for a 2 1/2 hour flight? Stick with snacks that don’t need to be refrigerated like granola, fresh fruit, nuts, and muffins.
Even when I’m home, I make a habit of packing a snack and a couple of bottles of water when I’m going to be out of the house for 4 hours. I’m much happier running errands when I’m not hungry and my blood sugar hasn’t plummeted. And, it keeps me from snacking on whatever I just bought at the store on the way home.
If you don’t already have a little portable cooler and some re-freezable ice packs, pick them up today. I keep one in my SUV and fill it up before I leave the house.
